A common problem with Chieftains. The Leyland power-packs didn't last long.

In this case the No3 Piston had decided it wanted to be on the outside of the engine and not inside, it smashed it's way through the top cover! In the 2 years we had Chieftains this was the only engine that went on this tank, However I needed a new gearbox on the Chieftain we used at BATUS in Canada, and I lost count of how many steering brake pads I changed!
