WW II US Tank Destroyer at Arlon

Destroyer M10 at the 'Battle of the Bulge' war museum, Arlon Belgium 2008.
See also picture #211.
The American M10 (picture #4503) was the response to the German tank destroyers.
The open turret and the light armor made the tank destroyer faster than the M4 medium tanks, but because of that the M10 was often easily destroyed. Soon after the invasion this was clear and they replaced the M10 by the M36 tank destroyer "Jackson". They British continued fighting with there version of the M10 (above picture see picture #993) until the end of the war because it was equiped with a better gun. (See picture #993 for more info on the British version)
